Some Porsche Information - 2
...In 1997 Porsche introduced their new mid mount engine called the Boxster so when they introduced the revamped 911 which was called the 996 they had an entire new strategy for marketing their car.The previous marketing strategy marketed to a buyer that was more mature, more sophisticated and at least 40 years of age. But the Boxster went after a buyer that was much younger. No longer were they looking for a sophisticated buyer, instead they were looking for a buyer that was fun, a bit of a risk taker, and a buyer that was lacking commitment. But Porsche wasn't about to throw away their older more sophisticated market. Instead they began to take an interest in marketing vehicles that were more than sporty which is why they were suddenly playing in the SUV with Volkswagen. Right move? Hmm time will tell. What do you think? To date it appears to be a smart marketing move. The Cayenne SUV continues to grow in popularity and demand.
