The spoilers were first introduced back in the 1980s because the aerodynamics produced better cooling. The spoiler has a plastic piece that is called the rear spoiler wall and it moves the air downward into the engine compartment after the spoiler has raised it. Installing the rear spoiler wall properly is very important. The rear spoiler is designed so that it can be folded down when it is not deployed and it can be pulled straight across the car when it is extended. You can't really tell if your spoiler wall is damaged, torn, or starting to separate unless you deploy it and then visually inspect it. Before you begin the install you will need to prepare by raising the spoiler so you have access to the area. Use the center console switch to raise your spoiler about of the way. When it is in the correct position remove the key and start your repair. Next you will need to remove the grill. It is held in place with 4 Allen head bolts which are located just under the grill piece on both sides of the wing. Remove these and then remove the grill being careful not to scratch your paint. Now you need to remove the old spoiler wall which is held in place with channels which are located at each end. The attachments are connected to the fixed point with a rubber channel and they can easily be snapped by hand.
